Jesus tells us that when we serve others, we are serving him. Emmanuel hears God's call to action for and with our neighbors in many different ways, including both hands-on ministry and monetary donations to local organizations that specialize in areas such as homelessness and hunger.
Although many of us are active in outreach through the parish, as well as through other projects within the community, we are constantly pursuing more opportunities for “hands-on” involvement, so that we might join God in his work for transformation and justice. We have partnered with DREAAM and Empty Tomb to increase our impact in our region. We host CU Trauma and Resilience Initiative in our north wing. Emmanuel is especially well known for our long-running daily sack lunch ministry. We are also proud to have been featured nationally in USA Today, Oprah's O Magazine, and the Episcopal News Service for our 2019 work with RIP Medical Debt to clear over $4 million in past due medical debt for Illinois families.
