Job Overview

Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide care for anywhere from zero to six children, ages 0 to 5.
- Nursery workers should arrive at the church on Sunday mornings at 7:45 and immediately go to the nursery, where they will ensure that the room is unlocked and organized for the arrival of parents and children.
- Parents will sign their children in and out of the nursery using the sign-in sheet for the day. Nursery workers are responsible for getting the required signatures and phone numbers from parents, as well as noting any additional information provided by the parents (i.e., dietary restrictions, etc.). The phone numbers are to enable nursery workers to text parents during service in the event of an emergency or if workers are in need of parental assistance.
- Beyond providing basic protective supervision, nursery workers should interact with the children, playing and talking with them.
- After all children have been picked up and signed out by their parents, straighten the room and remove any dirty diapers to the dumpster before leaving. Ensure that lights are off and the door is locked. At the end of the shift, place sign-in sheet in the “Assisting Priest” mailbox near the office.
- Undergo Child Abuse Prevention training through the Episcopal Diocese of Springfield (this requirement can be filled by prior training/approval from previous employer).
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children, particularly infants through preschool.
- Ability to exercise calm in stressful situations.
- Pass a background check.
