15 + 15
Each Sunday morning in the program year, we offer space at 9:10 for a daily Lectio Divina style prayer session based on one of the lectionary readings. This is not a 'Thought for the Day', a sermon or a bible-study, but rather a framework for prayer that anyone can use, even if you've never done it before. The guided prayer time, lasting about 15 minutes, combines music, scripture and some questions for reflection. After we pray, there are about 15 more minutes set aside for any who wish to stay for discussion of our prayer and of the questions.
Why Pray Scripture
This weekly session, using material from the podcast Pray As You Go, will help you to become more aware of how God speaks to you through Scripture and how you can concretely apply the texts of the week. When you make time to enter into God's presence as you hear his word yourself, it helps you to integrate the message and act on it. You could do this on your own, but doing it with others helps. Leadership rotates; come and go as you need to.
After our Lenten gatherings and Easter break, Lectio Divina resumes on Sunday April 15 and continues through May 13.
