Coming to a church for the first time can be an intimidating experience, but we think a warm hospitality makes it easier. The ushers of Emmanuel greet people as they enter the church, help you feel at home, make sure everyone has a copy of the service leaflet, track attendance, collect your financial offerings each week in support of our ministry, guide people to and from Holy Communion, and even straighten up the church a little after each service.
Ushers are happy to provide you with all kinds of assistance, ranging from children's coloring sheets to large print copies of the liturgy to directions to the bathrooms or nursery... and maybe even a recommendation for brunch in the neighborhood.
As the front line of our ministry of hospitality to all people, the ushers hope to make your experience at our Sunday liturgy flow smoothly, no matter what your background. We are always looking for more people with a commitment to hospitality to serve in this ministry, and all ages are welcome. If you are interested in becoming an usher, you can learn more by contacting the parish office at 217.352.9827 or via email.
