March 4, 2017
We hope to feed 15 families and raise $1000 for this year’s Mega Work-a-Thon, our annual project for Emmanuel’s outreach organization partner, empty tomb. First, staple pantry items will be collected at the church during the month of February. On March 4, parishioners will gather at Emmanuel at 10:00 am. Following a brief Bible Study we will assemble your donations into 15 boxes, and deliver the boxes of food to families in need who have been identified by empty tomb. The boxes will have been decorated by the youth group earlier that morning. We anticipate those serving will be finished by noon.
There are several ways that you can serve our neighbors through this once a year event.
1. Pray for the families receiving the food boxes and for the volunteers delivering the food.
2. Shop for the staple items and bring them to Emmanuel by March 1. As of mid-February we are well on the way to our 2017 goal to collect items for 15 complete boxes, so we suggest focusing on the other items unless this is the only way it is possible for you to take part. (See the shopping lists and instructions to the right.)
3. Come at 10:00 a.m. on March 4 to the church to assemble the boxes and deliver to the addresses provided. As of mid-February there is still plenty of space to join in. A sign up sheet for participants will be found in the Great Hall and online. This is a great event for families.
4. Donate money to the cause. This event is empty tomb’s major fundraiser for the year, and helps support their operating expenses. Our goal is to raise $1000. Make checks to Emmanuel with empty tomb in the memo line, or donate below and put empty tomb in the comment box.
